“The National Theatre’s internationally acclaimed production of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time returns in 2017.
This innovative drama is based on Mark Haddon’s award-winning novel, and has been adapted for the stage by award-winning Playwright Simon Stephens and directed by Olivier and Tony Award®-winning Director Marianne Elliot. The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time is the winner of seven 2013 Olivier Awards and five 2015 Tony Awards, including ‘Best Play’. This smash-hit new production continues to play to sold-out houses in London’s West End and on Broadway and will thrill new audiences on this much anticipated tour.
Christopher, fifteen years old, has an extraordinary brain – exceptional at maths while ill-equipped to interpret everyday life. He has never ventured alone beyond the end of his road, he detests being touched and he distrusts strangers. When he falls under the suspicion of killing Mrs Shears’ dog, it takes him on a journey that upturns his world.”
It’s believed that the central character has autism or Aspergers syndrome. It’s central themes are family, bravery and the realisation that he can do anything he puts his mind to.
“The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time” is on the AQA English Literature set text lists, therefore it is especially beneficial for those students studying or considering studying for that exam.
Seats are £20.00 (adult or child) in the stalls.
Optionally, an Insight workshop (on the same day) just before the performance for an additional £4 per student (accompanying adults will be free but very restricted). This will be “From Novel to Play”; a practical session using writing exercises to explore how dialogue, character, comedy and tension can be shaped through deeper exploration of the novel.
(The final price of the Insight workshop may be lower, depending on final numbers. If this is the case, pro-rata refunds will be made after the event to those that attended on the day)
Start/finish times on this event are approximate – these will be finalised nearer the time.
This is an Educationista Foundation event, organised by Lou. By booking on, you agree to adhere by the policies of the Foundation. A risk-assessment will be made available on request to everyone who attends.
